  • created a theme for Momentum’s 2019-2020 year-end show based on a Chinese folktale, focusing on the importance of honesty and teaching the children about Chinese culture

    • due to the pandemic, the show was canceled and was pushed back to the 2022-2023 school year

  • researched extensively about all aspects of Chinese culture and organized the information into a spreadsheet to help the staff also learn about the culture

    • incorporated the information into weekly lesson plans for the 30-week program

  • adapted an original script based on the Chinese folktale that included references to Chinese culture in order to help the children and the audience learn about the culture

    • worked with a local professional voiceover actor to record the narration for the show

  • Created an Advisory Team of local Chinese experts to make sure all aspects of the show best represented Chinese culture

  • workshopped a shortened version of the show during Momentum University, Momentum’s summer camp

    • conducted a lecture about China to give the children a basic knowledge about the country

    • coordinated guest speakers who gave presentations about different aspects of Chinese culture including martial arts, dance, history, cuisine, music, tea ceremony, & medicine

    • created costuming appropriate for each lead character

    • coordinated with the Art Teacher to create projects for the children that could also be used in the show as props and set  (i.e. flowers, kites, banners, flower pots, lanterns) 

  • created choreography appropriate for children grades 4th-8th that also incorporated Chinese culture, dance and martial arts 

  • worked with the Music Director to find music appropriate for each dance in the show

    • created an original drum piece with a professional drummer
